Advanced AcousticWerkes Nebula One Review

Sound:

The Nebula One has a slightly warm and dark sound. The presentation does not exactly have a kind of dynamic driver’s warmth, but it has thick notes and is more like a musical sounding unit.

Low Frequency:

The monitor provides a warm low frequency presentation. Hits are not too tight, but have a good texture for its price. On the other hand, the mid-bass is tighter than sub-bass and has a good resolution. In fact, there is a slight roughness added to the mid-bass presentation to make it easier to follow. The Nebula One has a musical low frequency instead of having a tight or technical one.

Mid Frequency:

The midrange has a natural presentation with a good resolution for its price. The overall stage is not located far away, so that the midrange is not distant, but neither fatiguing. The midrange can be sometimes congested in very fast metal tracks due to slight lack of control in sub-bass. This is a common issue in the same price range, but instruments are quite musical, refined, and more effortless when it comes to normal and slow tracks. Even if there is a lift in the upper midrange, the Nebula One does not tend to sibilance much and provides good vocals for its price.

High Frequency:

The treble presentation is neither laid-back nor too forward. It is in a good balance with the other frequencies in the spectrum. At the beginning, the Nebula One seems to have a decent and regular treble presentation, but it shows its quality, tonality, and detail level in time. The note releasing is not stressed and the tone is not metallic. It provides a good resolution and cleanliness with the exception of the performance in fast metal tracks.

Soundstage and Separation:

The Nebula One has effectual stage dimensions, neither too wide nor too deep. The width is better than depth, but the depth is also good considering its price. With the exception of very fast tracks, the imaging and coherence performances of the Nebula One are quite satisfying. There are somehow clean and warm spaces around instruments and it provides a good separation in the price range.

Even if the E80 provides more resolution in accordance with thinner notes, the Nebula One is more musical as well as warmer. On the other hand, the Nebula One sounds fuller, while E80 has more airy stage structure.

VSonic VSD3 vs Nebula One

Even if the general signatures are similar, the Nebula One has much tighter hits, while VSD3 sounds messy. In addition, the Nebula One has more control with in the bass department. In the midrange, the Nebula One betters VSD3 in terms of resolution and tonality. The Nebula One is more natural and sounds with a truer tone overall. VSD3 releases sticky and metallic notes in the treble section, while the Nebula One is more natural and forgiving as well as more resolving. Lastly, the Nebula One provides a better instrument separation.
