It has been a few years since we have been introduced to a lot of IEM brands from China. They not only make some of the best value for money IEMs, they too make some of the best sounding IEMs in their respective price range. Lots of brands have tried their hand at gaining popularity but handful of brands got what they aimed for. BGVP is one of them. They have a few lineups of both BA based and dynamic hybrid IEMs in their armory and their IEMs range from $40 for DN1 to $1499 for Artmagic ES12 and some of their most popular IEMs are DM6 and DMG.
Especially the DM6 was critically acclaimed with a lot of praise from both reviewers and consumers for its level of details and value for money prospect. The DM7 is the successor of the DM6 with one more driver and improved crossover. Priced at $289 the DM7 house 6 BA drivers in a 4 way crossover (we usually don’t see IEMs in this price range with 4 way cross). It comes in a handful of color options and can be ordered in custom shell too. Mine is the universal version in Transparent clear shell.
Earlier this year I had reviewed their VG4. It has one of the cleanest backgrounds for under $300 but I was not really impressed by its level of details. the GV4 is more musical and doesn’t cater to the same group as the DM series. The DM7 faces a lot of competition from Fiio, TSMR and many other Chinese brands.

WHAT’S IN THE BOX:-
The DM7 has similar set of accessories as the VG4 but there is a catch. A pair of foam tip, 3 pair of white tips, 3 pair of red core grey tips and 3 pair of wide bore tips can be found inside the box. The foam, white and red core tips are stuffed in the foam along with the ear pieces while the wide bore tips can be found inside a paper box along with a cleaning tool and the cable. Some documentation like instruction and warranty card can be found inside a paper envelop.
What’s interesting is that the retail box is not big enough to house the metal carry case (old packaging doesn’t include that) hence it ships out of the box.
WHAT IT FEELS LIKE:-
Earphones in this price range use good quality material with their earphones. BGVP has used metal houses for their DMG and DMS earphones in the past. But the DM7 has stuck with a full resin shell like the DM6 which gives it a nice and sturdy still a very ergonomically feel inside the ear. The DM7 has a semi-custom type body with a wing design which holds on to the inner ear with good amount of traction. The universal nozzle can fit t400 and 500 size tips but any wide nozzle tip can be used on it. There are a few layers on resin on the whole body, giving the DM7 a premium feel. Unlike most of the earphone in this price bracket the DM7 has a 4 bore design with 4 Knowles acoustic dampers.
The build is sturdy. Don’t put brute force on it and it will survive without any problem. It might not survive drops on marble or concrete floors. Thanks to the resin the DM7 is very light and stays inside the ear without falling out.
HOW IS THE CABLE:-
BGVP has been shipping their earphones with better than standard cables, the DM7 is no exception. The stock cable is an 8 core Furukawa OCC+ silver-plated cable. This cable has lossless sound quality signal transmission. It is one of the most comfortable and well behaved cables in this price range. Earphones like TSMR 3 and 4 ship with below par stock cables. The DM7 cable on the other hand is of considerably more premium quality.
The cable guides are very supple, holds the ear nicely and don’t exert much pressure on the ear. The cable splitter has a low profile, cable slider or chin slider is neither very loose nor very tight and slides smoothly on the cable. The straight 3.5mm is very light and feels solid to the hand. The cores are supple with little to no memory to them. The braiding is not tight and has fairly low amount of microphonics.
HOW DOES IT FEELS INSIDE THE EAR :-
Some of the earphones in this price range like the TSMR 4 and DK2001 don’t have ergonomically designed wings to generate better traction inside the ear but the DM7 has a semi custom shell with a tiny wing in the inner shell to have better grip. The DM7’s shell is made with PMMA acrylic fiber material from Germany’s EnvisionTEC 3D printing equipment. The 3D printed semi custom resin shell makes the VG4 one of the most comfortable earphones in this price range. The shell size is slightly on the larger side, if you do not have small ears the DM7 will fit nicely. Ergonomically it is one of the most comfortable earphones in this price bracket.
On the down side the nozzle could have been a bit longer and if not longer a bit thinner to accommodate more variety of tips. The stock red core tips can be used to generate very good grip. The isolation is just above average with wide bore tips and marginally better with red core tips. It doesn’t block out a lot but it isolates most of the noise.
