Still very good

8.6 Very good

The B400 is still a very capable earphone, it does not take step wrong (just like Nokia) but there are better performers in this price range. And yes, that cable needs to go.

COMPARISIONS:-

VS TSMR 2:-

If you count the drivers the TSMR 2 lacks 50% of the drivers but is a very capable earphone. The tuning switches add even more value to them.

The bass region is similar to the B400 but lacks a bit of extension and sub-bass rumble. It has better decay speed and has slightly smaller bass body. Mid range feels more vivid and detailed with better transparency. Treble has better extension and have more bite to it. Stage size is more rounded and bigger than the B400.

The TSMR 2 is a better earphone in every aspect except the fitting, here the B400 is more snug and comfortable.

VS Mee MX4 pro:-

MX4 pro has 4 driver, one DD and 3BA drivers and is V shaped. The tonality is slightly unnatural.

The bass is very similar. It has similar extension, similar sub-bass rumble but the overall bass body is bigger. Decay speed is slightly slower. Mid range doesn’t feel as transparent as the B400 and lacks a bit of micro details. Stage size is more rounded with bigger size. Treble is very similar with a bit lesser amount of energy compared to the B400 and lacks a bit of extension. Notes are slightly meatier with presentation.

VS ATh-IM03:-

The IM03 is a fairly more expensive earphone but shares a lot with the Brainwavz B400, especially with the sound signature.

The 3BA earphone delivers one of the most balanced sound in the market with a slightly forward mid range. The bass is very tight with fantastic decay speed. The size of the overall bass body is not big and. Sub-bass has slightly less extension, the Rumble is not big. Mid bass is considerably small and sounds slightly thin. Treble region is more extended but doesn’t have the bite of the B400. It is very smooth. Stage size is bigger and the B400 is smaller in every direction.

The ATH-IM03 is fantastic with sonicality and has better amount of details too.

The only problem with the IM03 is its annoying cable guides.

CONCLUSION:-

The B400 is a fantastic earphone without a single problem in it. The fit is fantastic, the sound is very likable and has very good amount of details too. The treble extension could have been marginally better but cannot be considered as a problem at all.

Even when it is a very good earphone till now, the problem with the B400 is that it’s the age shows, especially against highly capable earphone like the TSMR 2.

It still is one of the best earphones under $150. But I am hoping Brainwavz is already working on its successor.
