Sony’s classic MDR-V6 studio headphones are available for $54.99 from Amazon.com today. Typically these run $75-80.
First introduced in the 1980s, these headphones remain one of the most popular studio monitors around, and with good reason – the mostly metal construction grants them outstanding longevity and the smooth sound with extended, impactful bass works for audio pros and casual listeners alike. The form factor is extremely compact for an over-ear studio headphone, though those using them on the move will have to deal with a longer-than-average cord.
While a little treble-deficient to qualify for true “reference” sound, at $55 these are a perfect 10 for value. They make for an especially great “first headphone” – an all-purpose set that will last years. See our original review here: Sony MDR-V6 Review.
