Astell & Kern made a great impression in 2021, both refining their modular DAP systems and slashing the price of their flagships. They’re aiming to start strong in 2022 with a new release, the ACRO CA1000. This is a new headphone amplifier that introduces DAP functionality in a transportable form factor. With flexible IO, the CA1000 aims to deliver on both portable and desktop use.
The ACRO has 4 gain settings and up to 15Vrms of power output through its 3.5mm and 6.35mm single-ended, and 2.5mm and 4.4mm balanced outputs. At the heart of the device lies ESS’ ES9068AS Quad-DAC alongside crossfeed that reduces listening fatigue and promotes a natural sound reproduction. The ACRO has 256GB of onboard memory with micro-SD expansion.
As seen on their previous releases, TERATON ALPHA makes a return and the device sports a tilting 4.1″ 720p touchscreen for easy navigation of the company’s proprietary Android skin. A&K also bring back smart features such as BT5.0 and BT sink while a built-in battery that keeps the show running for up to 10.5hrs of playback.
The ACRO CA1000 just launched for $3099 AUD/$3599 NZD. You can read all about it and treat yourself to one via BusiSoftAV and its dealers.
