If you’ve been eyeing one of Matrix’s Element devices, now would be the time to pounce as the company has just launched the 2nd generation of their line-up which brings upgrades at no additional cost. The element X2 retains a $4399 asking price and houses ESS’ flagship ES9038PRO DAC chip and an in-built pre-amp. The element M2 uses the ESS’ ES9028 PRO coming in at a cheaper $3099. Finally, the element i2 uses the lower-powered ES9038Q2M but at the lowest price yet of $1580. All units feature a spec bump and new UI in-line with the refresh.
