Meze has been on a roll lately, focusing on bringing the technologies pioneered by their high-end designs down to affordable price points. However, it appears as though the time to push the boundary is once again upon us as Meze returns to the high-end sector in the form of the new Poet. This is an open-back over-ear headphone from the brand blending TOTL performance with a more streamlined and compact form factor more reminiscent of the Liric than open-back Empyrean and Elite.

At its core is the MZ6 Isodynamic Hybrid Driver array which is derived from the driver in the brand’s flagship Elite and Liric. Meze’s legendary build quality remains in the form of a magnesium and titanium alloy chassis, steel grills and suede leather strap, and earpads. The pads attach magnetically for easy servicing. Altogether, Meze promises a headphone that is built to last, fully serviceable, and also lightweight at 350g for superb wearing comfort.

Some new technologies make an appearance too, such as the Parus diaphragm used in the planar magnetic driver. It is made from an incredibly lightweight material and features an expansive area. Meze says this delivers ultra-low distortion and excellent responsiveness for maximum resolution. In addition, the POET sports AMTS (acoustic metamaterial tuning system), pioneered by Dan Clark Audio. THis technology eliminates unwanted peaks producing a more linear, enjoyable sound signature. The cable has also received some love as the Poet comes with a premium hand-braided copper cable to match the quality and aesthetics of the headphones themselves.
The POET retails for $2,000 USD and has just launched for pre-order on Meze Audio! Please see their website to read all about it and to secure a set for yourself.
