We’re all familiar with Meze. The company has been producing gorgeous over-ear headphones for many years making them a staple in the market. Much of this success can be attributed to the 99 Classics, which was arguably the headphone that put the brand on the map. Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their original hit, Meze have just announced the 2nd Generation model, which retains a similar silhouette and handcrafted build but with a complete redesign inside and out.

The company touts 10 major changes. Sonically, this begins with improved driver matching and a more balanced tuning with improved resolving power. Meze has increased the earcup size to improve comfort and reworked porting and venting to improve noise isolation. The baffles have been re-engineered to reduce artefacts and distortion, and a new ear pad system offers tunability via filters and easier pad swapping. Meze has also introduced enlarged input sockets to support a wider range of cables, an upgraded braided stock cable, and a Type-C DAC/AMP dongle is now included in the box.

The same legendary and fully-servicable build quality makes a return sporting a blend of metal alloys and rich walnut wood. Comfort was a key focus of the re-design, with specific attention directed towards the earpads in particular. Meze implements sustainable and recyclable packaging and components to lower environmental impact.
The second generation of the 99 Classics headphones have just launched at $349 USD/€349. You can read more about them and snag a set for yourself on Meze’s website here!
