Overview

Audeo PFE 012 Perfect Bass Earphones

Audéo Perfect Bass Earphones (021) offer active music lovers extremely natural and well-defined sound experience -- with some extra thump. Perfect Bass Phonak's engineers used their hearing expertise to design these earphones with special filters that punch up the bass without compromising the music. The silicone earpieces give a tight, comfortable fit that blocks out up to 23 dB of ambient noise. These features allow you to enjoy the bass even at lower volumes. You still hear your music with a rich bass end while minimizing any ear damage from excessively loud volumes.

These are on par with some of the others in the $100 price range. I liked the bass on these, it wasn't to powerful. The lows and mids were pretty nice to go along with it. The fit was alright I found them to become loose when I would make any big movements.

Very good earphones under $100. Good bass quality and overall clear sound though it is not as good as high end earphones.

I was searching for a solid quality, great sounding pair of earphones and decided to give the Audeo PFE012 Perfect Bass Earphones a try, based primarily on favorable reviews and , quite honestly, the name. I figured even if the bass is NOT perfect but just really good, I'll be all set. You can imagine my disappointment when not only was the bass NOT perfect, it was NON-EXISTENT! In all fairness, my attempt at new earphones also included a Sennheiser model which also proved to be inadequate in the bass response. It could be that my MP3 player, a Sandisk Sansa little guy, requires a very specific set of earphones, designed my the manufacturer. They DO sound great, but have a tendency to shift in my ear or just fall out...which is why I searched for the 'in-ear canal' type in the first place. The good news...OE replacement earphones are 5 bucks...I'll just live with the slippage. Additionally, this line of earphones comes with miniature replaceable filters, designed to enhance certain ranges of sound. The 'black ones' enhance the bass response, so why didn't I try those to help with the bass problem? Because they don't come with the PFE012. Well, that makes sense. You wouldn't want to include something that is available and could possibly solve the problem! Pros: Not much, really Cons: No bass Low sound volume

    Merchant Response:

Dear Bert, We are very sorry to hear that you could not get a good seal with your PFE012. We encourage our customers that are not very familiar with in-ear earphones to spend as much time as possible with them so they can learn how to properly insert them and test all sleeves to get a good seal. A good seal will deliver a great bass. Audeo offers extra accessories that will enhance the listener's experience and the earphones' performance; some models will have these accessories included and some will not. The accessories are all available to be purchased separately when the model does not include them. However keep in mind, no seal = no bass. So-so seal = so-so bass. You need to have the "right" eartip that is a good match with your ear canal anatomy. That takes time as you need to try the different eartip sizes. Out of the box you would normally have no bass. Customers that keep these earphones for 1-2 weeks and get a good seal, the return rate is zero. Thanks for your feedback!

I love these things. They're the most detailed earphones I've used so far (though I haven't used many), and the bass is solid. They fit quite well for me and are quite comfortable. I hear details in music that I haven't heard before. It's just a pleasure to listen to music with these. Oddly enough they are kind of quiet compared to most headphones I've used, but I can still turn them up loud enough on my Zune. I definitely would recommend these. Pros: Excellent Sound Quality Fit Well Nice cable that doesn't tangle easily Good build quality Great price Cons: Nothing that I can think of

These are quite comfortable and very small. The included M tips fit my ears, so I didn't try others. At first I thought the lack of a cord clip would be a problem, but after running with them I find the cord to not pull as much as expected. The cord microphonics are also mild. Sound is reminiscent of my Future Sonics Atrio, which I like. They isolation is ok, but nowhere near Etymotic levels. Overall I'd buy them again. Build quality seems good, and they are a good value. It would be nice if they could throw in a little case--I use an old Shure case with mine. Pros: build quality, comfort, balanced/warm sound Cons: no case

Not only does the silicone ear pieces in my ear feel very comfortable they also help reduce unwanted ambient noise. Listening to classical music I can hear sheet music turn from one page to the next and the "3D" effect listening to electronic music. To me these are but a few indicators of a high quality earphone but in conjunction with the sound being crystal clear and natural it's also worth noting that for the past few weeks it has been a pleasure that I've found these gems. They look and sound like the Mercedes-Benz of earphones. Admittedly will order replacements to have as backup. Pros: Cons:

I own a few dozen IEMs and of course some I prefer over others. For me, the bottom line is do they sound good. These sound very good. Clarity and speed are impressive, The bass is adequate and representative of what was mixed on the track. I don't enjoy a mid-centric exaggerated bass that detracts from the other frequencies by being too forward and/or muddy. With a good seal, all the bass is nicely reproduced and adequate. I swapped out the green filters with optional black filters which further reduced the bass by a few decibels and I am happier with the black filters. I added some foam tips I had laying around but the supplied tips are plenty good and seal well. Build is good, comfort and isolation are well above average. They are sensitive enough to not require an amp but are improved with one. The warranty is excellent. I don't exercise with them so I can't comment on how they'd be at the gym. They don't come with any storage case or pouch. I haven't mentioned anything except the bass presence because I can't find any fault with the mids or the treble. I find myself just getting into the music with these rather than mentally critiquing them. Pros: The sound, the build, the warranty. Cons: No provided case or pouch

Had them for a couple of days now Very, very comfortable from day 1! Pretty light as well, and fits almost flush with the ear. One thing that annoys me, they lack POWER...! Had some Monster turbines (with way stronger bass, by the way), and I now have to push the volume close to maximum volume... The cable does not really tangle, and have a nice finish. The sound isolation is not bad, but some earphones that I used to have (Shure E2c, Etymotics 6i) had better isolation. Mixed thoughts, buy maybe I'll get used to the downside! Pros: Very comfortable from day 1 Very light Good bass for the price Cons: Max output volume Sound isolation Package (no spare filters)
