XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro: Portable Powerhouse

Closing thoughts

Since I’m new to projectors, I’m not going to tell you that XGIMI’s MoGo 2 Pro is the best of the best, or the one to get. But I’ll gladly tell you that I’d buy one in a heartbeat if what I wanted was a full featured, high quality, beautifully made, versatile and powerful projector on the go.

It’s a tiny powerhouse that packs so many advanced features and functions, and delivers such an outstanding user experience, that I find it difficult to fault it. I feel like I’ve been teleported a few years into the future, where anyone can summon high-definition multimedia on virtually any surface at the touch of a button.

Just find a big wall, off white, grey or even cream, a flat surface a few metres away, a nearby power plug (or battery pack), and you’re good to go. Not only is it usable anywhere, at most times, of day, but give MoGo 2 Pro optimal conditions and you’ll be rewarded with an image that spans over 100 inches with quality that has no right to exist for this type of money. Just a few years ago the best TVs didn’t look this good, and here we are, getting home theatre-quality TV from a portable box.

It’s not perfect, of course. There’s no protective case for a portable player, which is a misstep in my opinion. The built-in sound is fine for small rooms but doesn’t match the output of most large-screen TV speakers. Brightness, while excellent, is limited to optimal conditions, and resolution is still a step down from today’s 4K and 8K screens.

But, we’re talking about a $599 projector, so just about every one of these ‘shortcomings’ is forgivable, and understandable when you factor in how many things it does brilliantly right.

For me, this is just the start of a journey. XGIMI has opened my eyes to a whole new world of AV goodness with the MoGo 2 Pro, and I’m already thinking about where this fascinating road will lead to next. The good news is that there’s so much more to discover, and that it won’t cost you a fortune to do so.

In XGIMI’s MoGo 2 Pro, anyone who has any interest in high-quality room-by-room multimedia entertainment at home, needs versatile projection and sound in the office, or wants a media companion on vacation or even out camping, has a device that I can wholeheartedly and very highly recommend.

The MoGo 2 Series pre-sale is currently underway until April 24th, 2023. XGIMI is offering preorder customers in the US and Europe special discounts during this period. The official launch date is April 25that which point Mogo 2 and MoGo 2 Pro will be available for direct purchase online.
