Astell & Kern alongside Campfire Audio are two of the most renowned names in audio. What better than a new release from either but one made by the two combined. Introducing the new Pathfinder that follows up on the success of the Solaris X that came prior.
The Pathfinder features the world’s first dual-diaphragm mid-focused BA driver setup from Knowles alongside dual BA driver for extended highs alongside CFA’s TAEC technology. Knowles’ new dual-diaphragm drivers feature a single voice coil mated to two diaphragms that provide smoother operation and, in turn, sound output.
In addition, custom-designed dual-dynamic drivers with a hybrid diaphragm cover the low-end for a rich and dynamic sound. They enjoy a radical venting acoustic 3D printed acoustic chamber, a new tech from CFA as well that involves a specially designed vent on the face of each driver. The surrounding acoustic chamber meanwhile drastically improves driver extension and the perception of soundstage dimensions.
This treatment has not only been applied to the dynamic drivers, but also to the entire internal design of the shell. The Pathfinder boasts three cables in the box, each offering different connectors. At its core, this is a silver-plated copper Litz cable in an 8-wire ribbon braid. Similar ear tips including Final E-tips are included as seen on CFA’s IEMs. This is shaping up to be a hugely impressive high-end model from the two brands.
The Pathfinder will be available mid-June from Busisoft AV and its dealers at an RRP of $2899 AUD or $3199 NZD.
